New 2025 Recycling Legislation

Starting March 2025, the 'Simpler Recycling' legislation will make recycling a mandatory practice for all businesses. Here’s what you need to prepare for:

Who Does This Apply To?

By 31 March 2025, all non-household municipal premises (excluding micro-businesses) must implement recycling measures for all recyclable waste, except garden waste and plastic film.

Key Requirements:

Food Waste

1. Separate Storage & Collection:

   Food waste must be kept and collected separately from other waste.

2. Disposal Ban

   It cannot be placed in general waste bins

   
   

Waste Separation

1. Mixing Dry Recyclables

   Businesses can combine glass, metal, plastic, paper, and cardboard in one recycling container.

2. Clear Separation

   Recyclable and non-recyclable waste must be distinctly sorted.
